A door is a door is a door, right? The door to your walk in pantry might have slats, the door to your wine cellar might just be a solid door, and the door to your patio might be glass—but ultimately, they are functional—not decorative.

But does it have to be that way? Or can a door be more than just a plain, boring way to get in or out of a space. Here at Scottish Stained Glass, one of our favorite projects to work on are glass doors—decorative, leaded glass or stained glass doors. Our top quality, unique stained glass is already popular in front doors, but it’s really starting to take off as a means to create a focal point for any room with a door.

If you want to add a gorgeous design element to your doors, we can either insert a hand crafted stained glass panel into the existing door, or create an entire new glass door.

Imagine the current door to your wine cellar replaced with a stained glass door featuring intertwining green vines and leaves, clusters of luscious green and purple grapes, or perhaps even an abstract design that is vaguely reminiscent of wine bottles or glasses . . .

Imagine your sliding glass patio door replaced by a stunning geometric pattern featuring frosted and beveled glass, that catches the light and still lets the light into your home—but affords just a bit more privacy, elegance, and class. Perhaps a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired design, with mostly clear glass and some bits of vivid jewel colors . . .

Imagine your pantry door with a colorful pattern of muted glass tones to match the décor of your kitchen. Many kitchens have no wall space to hang any art, so a stained glass pantry door provides the perfect blend of artistic interest and practical function. Many of our clients have combined a stained glass pantry door with matching stained glass/leaded glass/beveled glass cabinet doors! Voila—an instant high-end designer kitchen look at an extremely affordable price.

What about if you have your own business? An elegant stained glass office door might be just the thing to show off how proud you are of your business and create a more open look while still maintaining your privacy.

Last but not least, consider the lowly glass shower door. And now imagine it in beautiful stained glass or frosted, leaded glass, representing your home with as much style and sophistication as every other room in your house. No need to worry about the water. We use a special process to fuse the stained glass panel in between two sheets of plain glass, protecting the leaded strips from any moisture issues. Combine a leaded glass shower door with a stained glass bay window for even more decorating oomph.
